While Washington is caught up in the Supreme Court controversy, the Farm Bill expires.
Sunday marks the end of the current Farm Bill.
And while the House and Senate have each approved legislation, the bills are different in some key areas.
The Senate bill is more of the same, while the House wants changes to food stamps.
John Hansen of Nebraska Farmers Union said, “The Senate is much more to our liking. When you really stand up and look at it, a more poorly funded version of what’s not working now. Which looks great compared to the house bill. The house bill came out for the first time ever on a straight party line vote from the House Ag Committee, a bad precedent to set and it passed strictly on party line vote within the house.”
